Twins Predictions

Fearless predictions for the final half of the Twins season:

-Kevin Slowey will not get 20 wins.

-Scott Baker will win 8 more games

-R.A. Dickey’s ERA will stay below 4.00

-Justin Morneau won’t hit more than 30 home runs

-Joe Mauer will not hit .400, or even .390, but he will hit 25 home runs

-Joe Crede will miss 20 more games

-Delmon Young’s OPS will slip above .700

-Matt Tolbert, Nick Punto and Alexi Casilla will have a combined OPS nearly equal to that of national league pitchers in the second half.

-Danny Valencia will don a Twins Uniform before the end of the year.

-Trevor Plouffe will start at least 10 games for the Twins

-Jason Kubel will have the third highest OPS on the team

-Joe Nathan will blow 4 more saves

-Carlos Gomez will start less than half the remaining games after the All Star break in Center Field

  1. I agree with most of those, Marty.

The thing about Gomez, though, is that he’s sitting on the bench. Besides catching Crede on foul outs into the dugout, what good is he doing on the bench? Either Rochester for a month or getting regular starts in Minnesota, IMO.

    • Your sentiments are mine. Gomez should be playing everyday, either in Rochester or for the Twins.

  2. Marty,

“slip above” is messy language. Quit trying to be retorically cute!

  3. There will be conflict in the middle east.

    It will involve sand.

    • Nothing too incredible, I know. Here are some “out on a limb” predictions: Slowey finishes with 15 wins, Crede spends September on the DL, Joe Mauer hits .320 or less in the second half. The Twins finish 6 games above .500.

  4. I like those better. Did you see Souhan shit all over them after last nights game?

    • Souhan is an ass. He made a few good points about the Twins making some mental errors recently, but Souhan acts as if the Royals should lose every game they play. It doesn’t work like that.

  5. I’m told you began and ended a career in softball recently.

Well, they do say that the brightest stars burn out the fastest.
